Who We Are

Hearing Resources specializes in assistive technology for the hard-of-hearing and deaf. This includes assistive devices to help with *telecommunication (telephones, TTY's, Cellular Phone Amplifiers and Adapters for hearing aid compatibility), *personal assistive listening devices (for listening to individuals, television, stereo, computers, etc.), *group assistive listening devices (conferences, work group settings, educational use, wide area application, etc.) *Classroom amplification systems, *Computer Aided Interpreting equipment, *signaling and *alerting devices (alarm clocks, smoke detectors, door, telephone, and paging equipment), *ADA compliance equipment and devices, *strobes and *vibrators, *amplified stethoscopes, and *multimedia equipment. We also provide *repair services for most of the assistive equipment on the market today. *Interfacing assistive technology with an individual's hearing instruments and living/work environment is our specialty.

Company History

Hearing Resources opened for business in June of 1987 along with its subsidiary Sound Solutions, which was the assistive products division,  with the vision of providing those assistive products that make life a little more enjoyable for the hard-of-hearing and deaf but which are not readily available at the local hearing aid office.  Over time our product line has grown to include both the personal items people need to live life fully with joy, safety and independence plus a wide range of assistive products to meet the ever increasing demand for greater assistance in public areas like classrooms, churches, training facilities, auditoriums, and the workplace.  

Hearing Resources moved to its current location at 4311 NE Tillamook St, Portland, Oregon 97213 in May of 2000.  This new location includes a larger and better lighted showroom and includes wheelchair access. We are open Tuesday to Saturday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.  When in the Portland area please drop by to check out the latest in  assistive technology.

Mission Statement

It is the mission of Hearing Resources to be a leader in the field of technology assistance for those who have communication disorders caused by the loss of hearing.  Towards this end we strive to combine the best technology which will meet the individual's needs in the fields of hearing science, hearing instrumentation, assistive technology, sound collection and distribution systems with the highest level of professional expertise.  Hearing Resources will always keep in mid that our purpose is to provide solutions to help people live  productive and independent lives.  While our end-user is the person with a communication problem, our clientele includes individuals, businesses, schools, and governmental agencies.  Hearing Resources will provide direct services and products to its clientele with marketing emphasis in the Pacific Northwest.  Towards this end Hearing Resources will endeavor to provide not just products and services, but also educational efforts to its clientele and the general public.

Hearing Resources is owned by Jay and Louise Thurman, here to service your hearing communication needs.

Hearing Resources is located in Portland, Oregon in the Pacific Northwest. We are open Tuesday through Saturday from 9:00 am to 5:00 PM (Pacific Time). Our phones are equipped with voice mail so calls will not be missed when we are away from our phones or non-business hours.
